Had choir yesterday. It was super fun cuz we started to learn Kucinta. It was difficult but we managed to finish learning the difficult parts in the song. It's almost like Zachariah Goh closed his eyes and scribbled the manuscript and then opened his eyes and did minor corrections. Almost every note was accompanied with an accidental. But we survived through the parts. It's a good song to remind us of the equal importance of all four parts of a choir cuz sometimes we tend to forget it when we're singing the melody all the time. Well, I tend to forget anyway, not faulting the rest of them:)
Went to the memorial concert for Samuel Ting, Mr Kwei's conductor when he was a choir boy on 28 nov. Really inspirational to see how one teacher can affect a single student so much that he remembers you for the rest of his life. I bet that's how all teachers want to feel. Now I feel kind of guilty for forgetting some of my teachers, especially from my primary school even though they've played such an important role in nurturing me as a student and a person. On to lighter things, I saw Justin from Tock Seng at the concert. Actually, I was sitting beside him! Me, Kangting, Shona, Shena,Hazel, Youying and Zong Yi ran all the way from Cartel cuz we were going to be late. Went into VCH and there were seats at the front. Had to squeeze past 2 guys to get to the seats and when I looked at one of them I was so sure that was Justin. But he looked at me and showed no glint of recognition. So the whole of the first half I spent contemplating whether it was him. Of course, I paid attention to the music too. VJ( Mr Kwei's oldest choir) started the concert and boy, they were good. Then there was a solo by this guy who even "Ah" ed on pitch, sending Zong Yi into a fit of giggles. Then the Herald Choir Society started singing. They were all Chinese songs but it was quite nice. After the last song I turned to Kangting and told her how it was killing me that the guy I was sitting beside looks so familiar when Justin went," Thi, is that you?"(cue to laugh). Serious punchline material. Turns out his TPJC friend invited him to the concert and that's why he was here. Lol. Came back for second half and he and his friend were gone. Angela had come late so now she sat with us. TPJC( his second oldest choir) opened the second half and after that there was a solo by a power sop from the Herald Choir Society. She got super vibrato until we couldn't understand what she was singing. Moreover, a well-timed sneeze from the audience just as she paused to take a breath sent us into giggles. After that they had a combined choir of all the performers and they sang a few songs. Overall the concert was quite nice and, in the smplest sense, sweet. It's nice when students take their time off to honour their teachers. We had a camwhoring session until I started rushing cuz I wanted to reach home that day itself, which meant before 11:59:59 pm. I reached home at 12:10 tho.
